As a follower of Jesus, I want to do what He did as I do what He commands. What did He tell us to do? To go into all the world and not only be disciples, but witnesses of the life-changing power of the gospel; to give encouragement and hope wherever we can.

Our faith isn’t practiced in a worship service on Sunday morning. Actually, we come to celebrate and prepare to go and be Christian everywhere else.

At The Gathering, you have ample opportunities through Habitat for Humanity, flood relief, Mercy Ministries and other mission-varied activities to take your witness to the streets, and make a difference in a world that’s longing for hope and encouragement.

One of the most unique features of The Gathering is the joy, the laughter, the camaraderie, and the sense of mission you feel when you walk the hallways. How does that happen? It happens when happy volunteers put their hands to an important mission.

There are multiple ways to connect through serving @ The Gathering: setting up, taking down, working with students and children, greeting in the Lobby, cleaning the parking lots. All of these are simple ways in which all of us can do a little that makes a big difference.

Think about it. When you set up, you provide a thousand seats for people to come and hear the life-changing message of the gospel. That costs you one hour a week. What else can you do that has that kind of pay-off? If you take down, you allow us to grow a great church; not only in heart and spirit, but in numbers, without spending millions and millions and millions of dollars buying and building a facility at this point in our life.

The spirit of The Gathering is the heart of Jesus being shown through those who serve in big and small ways. As a matter of fact, there are no small jobs @ The Gathering.

Whether you serve a cup of coffee in Jesus’ name, whether you teach a child about God, set up an inflatable, hand out a free CD; all of it has major impact. And all of it has the blessing of God.

Where else can you get that kind of regular and immediate payback? Not to mention the eternal impact of your life showing up in small ways to make a big difference!
