Kids Gathering is a place for children to experience that God is real and that He wants to be a part of their lives. We provide a safe and fun environment for kids to connect to God and each other, while learning how to make a difference in their world for Christ. Our Kids Gathering Team is made up of caring and qualified individuals who are dedicated to creating an exciting program each week.

What’s Happening in October

FIDES is an oprhanage in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Currently 56 children, mostly of teen years, reside at this orphanage. The orphanage has only one small table with five chairs where one meal per day is served.
Think about that. When was the last time you ate one meal a day? And a very small meal at that. There is no running water or electricity at FIDES. There is one amazing director who does all she can, all by herself, for her 50 plus children. The lack of multiple meals is in direct correlation to high food prices. A 50lb. bag of beans = $90. A box of dried fish = $90.
Funds will be used to purchase:
  • Bags of beans
  • Boxes of dried fish
  • Vegetables such as greens, tomatoes, and onions
  • Fruits such as papayas, oranges, and bananas
  • Breads, rolls, and baguettes
  • Possibly more chairs for the children to sit

Need more information about child hunger? The statistics are staggering. Can we feed everyone? We wish. These are the children Jesus has laid on our hearts.

We can make a big difference in the lives of these children. We are challenging our kids to hold a bake sale, ask for extra chores, or talk to their soccer team or scout group about joining in.
When your stomach growls in hunger, was it because you ate hours ago, or days ago?

Preschool Kids

All preschoolers want to be “super.” They dash through the house with towels for capes attempting amazing feats that sometimes find them poised to jump off the dresser to see if they can fly. The thing these kids don’t know yet is that you don’t have to have special powers to be super. No, you can be super with God’s help. And, you can ALWAYS count on God.

This month, our preschoolers will learn they can be brave like Elijah and believe in the one true God. They can be strong like Esther and love God with their whole heart. They can be courageous like Rahab and trust God. They can be wise like Joshua and obey God. When they are like these awesome people whose stories are told in the Bible, they can be a Super Kid and do “super” God’s way.

K-4 Kids: Honor

All of God’s creation is important to Him. Jesus told us that God remembers each sparrow, even though there are thousands (Luke 12:6-7). But Jesus said that people are even more valuable to God. In fact, God counts every hair on our heads! God shows us how important we are to Him when He pursues a relationship with us. And He started in the very beginning when He sought out Adam and Eve in the garden. God shows us how much He values us because He loves us.

Honor is letting someone know you see how valuable they really are. Like God’s honor is fueled by His love for us, we show honor back to God because we love Him. And we follow God’s example when we show honor to others. Showing honor demonstrates that we see others as God sees them. Every person we meet has value to God and deserves our honor.

The monthly memory verse is: “Love each other deeply. Honor others more than yourselves.” Romans 12:10, NIrVWhen we spend the time to get to know people, we are showing them that their ideas, feelings, and abilities are valuable. We give them honor by recognizing the contributions they can make in our lives.
